Job Description: Special Education Technology & Related Services Facilitator is a member of the special education leadership team and is directly involved with support of students with special needs.
They assist district and school teams with instructional programming, assessment, training, and implementation of support systems for students.
THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED OR ADJUSTED TO FIT THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB.
TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL FUNCTION.
Attend IEP and eligibility meetings in a supportive role, or LEA designee as needed
Support school teams in providing special education related services to students with disabilities
Collaborate with school teams to develop IEPs and behavior plans
Support special education teachers in implementing specialized instruction
Demonstrate knowledge of special education law, policies, procedures and file compliance
Conduct evaluations for providers that require supervision and students who are in private school settings.
Provide supervision for SLTs
Understand licensing requirements for related service providers and support HR in meeting requirements
Maintain Effective/Highly Effective rankings on the Special Education Evaluation
Oversee and develop teacher professional development training; including but not limited to: Best Practices, curriculum, new teachers, state compliance data
Contact for special education technology (apps, iPads, systems)
Understand a variety of assessments used for eligibility and educational planning
Maintain appropriate records and paperwork
Communicate effectively with co-workers, educational professionals and families
Build strong professional relationships with parents/guardians, teachers, paraeducators, and school administrators
Effectively manage time to address the needs of schools through being a visible presence and accessible resource
Solution-oriented in meeting the needs of students in the best way possible
Regular work attendance and adherence to work schedule is required
Qualifications: Minimum Position Qualifications:
Masters degree in an education related field preferred
Hold a current Special Education educator license in the State of Utah - preschool, mild/moderate or severe
Recent experience working in special education within Weber School District required.
Experience in special education leadership preferred
Minimum 5 years experience teaching in special education within the State of Utah
Valid Driver’s License, operational vehicle and insurance
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions (as necessary for supporting in Special Education classrooms in a supportive role):
Requires the mobility to reach and bend (neck and back)
Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects
Requires independent transportation throughout the Weber School District geographical area
Requires mobility to maneuver through classroom and school environments independently
Requires lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds, which may be a frequent aspect of the job
Requires pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds, which is a rare aspect of the job
Requires implementation of non-violent crisis intervention techniques
May require working with bio-hazards (blood borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials, etc.
